    AFFRESCO Pictography Collection
    What is an “Affresco”?
Any art lover as well as anyone that visited Italy must have had the opportunity of appreciating an affresco painting since most prominent ancient Roman paintings consist of affresco; as do the holy stories depicted within medieval churches; and so too are the magnificent decorations found within the halls of villas dating from the fifth, sixth and seventh centuries.

The affresco painting method is the basis for the most impressive mural works of Italian art and is considered to be the most widely used artistic technique during the Renaissance period by world known artists such as: Michelangelo, Raffaello, Signorelli and Piero della Francesca.
The affresco technique requires a resolute sleight of hand as painting an affresco demands that the painter be skilled and decisive as well as being able to paint over large surface areas.
Affresco was often created together with dry layers of water colors, or even with oil or wax and has been used for centuries within Mediterranean countries and is the longest-lived painting technique within history.

About the artist and “Bottega Artigiana Tifernate”
The “Bottega Artigiana Tifernate” is a small artisan shop located in the Upper Tiber Valley whiting the central region of Umbria (Italy).
Mr. Stefano Lazzari, the artist creator/inventor of the “Pictography” technique is an experienced artist in painting and restoration with a profound knowledge of printing techniques.
He dedicated over 10 years just to develop this complex as well as innovative procedure.

    What is the “Pictography” Technique?
Pictography is a method for printing affresco reproductions on Mural Material, Canvas and Wood Panels, created by Mr. Stefano Lazzari and patented by the Bottega Artigiana Tifernate.
Throughout pictography, any artistic painting can be reproduced in any size.
The most important feature, in which the whole pictography patented technique is based, is the total absence of the typical grid of dots normally found in printed works; as a matter of fact the reproduction details increase proportionally with the size of the painting.
Oxide base colors are used to preserve their original hues and brilliance.

    A total paperless process.
The Pictography technique excludes the use of paper or any other perishable material as the colors actually penetrate and bond with the mortar & stucco base.

    Quality is certified.
The Certificate of Origin that accompany every piece guaranteed the unique quality of work and materials. Owning a Pictography affresco by Bottega Artigiana Tifernate, comprise the satisfaction of possessing a beautiful and lasting art piece created with a technique of the past by now all but lost.
