Tuscany Hand painted with dramatic, intriguing and sophisticated
Renaissance-inspired designs, these true masterpieces
are delicately created to retain the finest
characteristics of Tuscan Majolica.
We have recently redesigned these items, previously

renown Rosso di Montelupo (Montelupo's Red)
that derives its name from the mysterious red pigment
employed in its decoration since the medieval era. |

Montelupo Fiorentino
is the center of the production of Florentine majolica,
located just on the outskirts of Florence and the world
known Chianti region.
Montelupo is situated in
the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Empoli, and
has been an important center for manufacturing ceramics
since medieval times. Its success can be credited to the natural abundance of
clay in the surrounding area, primarily due to frequent
flooding of the Arno River, and second, the role
Florentine merchants historically played in trading
Montelupo's majolica, or hand-painted terra-cotta,
throughout Europe during the Renaissance. |
