FLORENTIA Collection
Our new Florentia Collection, feature three items which are reproductions of vessels commonly used in the renaissance era, by pharmacists to preserve their concoction, used at the time to cure people, as they were the only available medicine.

The script on the canister (Item # F20-FLT) says: “Semi di Cedri” which translates to: “Cedar Seeds”
Renaissance medical use:
The resulting tea of stepped leaves of the red cedar were used to relieve persistent coughing or a tickling in the throat.  It was also believed to produce sedative effects that were especially useful for calming a hyperactive person.  Women drank the red cedar tea to speed delivery during childbirth.
More recently the Indian tribes Cheyenne, and Sioux, made a tea from red cedar boughs, branches, and fleshy cones, which they drank for colds, fevers, tonsillitis, and pneumonia.

The script on the flat brocca/pitcher (Item # F25-FLT) says: “Sy. Di Fiori di Pesco” which translates to: “Syrup of peaches flowers”.
Mostly used for cosmetic purposes. Boiled Peaches flowers had soothing astringent properties. Used to cure greasy, spotty skin, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, insect bites, scrapes and grazes.
Crushed peaches flowers work well when applied to spots, insect bites and rashes.
In the culinary field, Peaches flowers used to be chopped and added to salads.
