ARABESCO
A whimsical songbird alights at the center of each piece in this cheerful classic from Deruta. Elaborate, yet delicately intertwined foliage creates the unique casual elegance of Arabesco. Its simplicity lets this pattern mix perfectly with just about any other color, in almost any kitchen décor.

AUTUNNO Collection
Useful and usable, these kitchen accessories and serving pieces feature an "Autunno" (Fall) theme with leaves and grapes, the typical fall fruit.
This colorful pattern mixes very well with our popular "Rustica" collection, featured on pages 26 and 27.

DERUTA Vario
Over 500 years of artistic heritage has produced a multitude of ceramic artists in the Italian town of Deruta.
Artistica's exclusive artist Maria Veschini has been painting ceramics since her childhood, and enjoys exploring new patterns, such as the new “Vario” (Various) ones shown in this page. Maria’s creations are painstakingly created with no specific guidelines, but inspired by her own many years of experience.

VECCHIA DERUTA  (Old Deruta)

A richer and more formal version of the renowned “Ricco Deruta” pattern, with scalloped rim plates and a dominant royal blue trim. Both inspired by the frescoes of the master Renaissance artist Raphael.

The Art of Pottery… "LA PITTURA"
(The Painting)

The painstaking process of painting the Bisque is the essence of Majolica. The Painter, "Il Pittore", may paint a decoration freehand, or use a type of pounce, "Spolvero", to stencil sketches of the design. This fine powder guides the painter in rendering these intricate designs.

In majolica painting, the artist must fully understand the complexities of coloration, as the pigments used for ceramic painting all have a very similar Gray/Black tone.

The true and brilliant colors will be produced only after the finished product emerges from the final kiln firing.
