ARABESCO
A whimsical songbird alights at the center of each piece in this
cheerful classic from Deruta. Elaborate, yet delicately intertwined
foliage creates the unique casual elegance of Arabesco. Its
simplicity lets this pattern mix perfectly with just about any other
color, in almost any kitchen décor. Matching table top items are on
page 52.
FRUTTINA
Pears, peaches, and leaves adorn the rims of our "Fruttina"
dinnerware. Delicate warm yellows and greens create a pattern that
is beautiful for everyday use, and still just right for more formal
occasions.
PERUGINO
Inspired by the grotesques, and the delicate ornamental tracery
of frescoes by Renaissance painter “Il Perugino”, this design was
originally found in palazzi throughout the Umbrian city of Perugia.
Perugino can mix ‘n match perfectly with the Raffaellesco pattern,
making them both the most popular and enduring Deruta dinnerware
majolica patterns.
RICCO DERUTA
Royal elegance comes directly to your table, with rich blues, yellow
gold, and emerald greens subtly evoking the sixteenth century,
masterfully handpainted in this true version of Deruta's most
celebrated design. |
VECCHIA DERUTA
(Old Deruta)
A richer and more formal version of the renowned “Ricco Deruta”
pattern, with scalloped rim plates and a dominant royal blue trim.
Both inspired by the frescoes of the master Renaissance artist
Raphael.
CORONA
Commonly found in 15th Century Italian cathedrals, this decorative
motif features intertwining Amorpha fruticosa green leaves
surrounded by multi-colored flowers.
DERUTA BISCOTTI
JARS
Our hand painted “Biscotti” jars from Deruta were specially created
to store the traditional Italian cookies that have recently taken
the world by storm. These subtly sweet, crisp cookies can be found
in countries around the globe, but they have been made in Italy as
far back as the fourteenth century.
The name Biscotti can be translated as "twice cooked", which indeed
describes how these tasty cookies are made. By baking them twice,
they lose excess moisture, ensuring a crisp, dry cookie. In fact, it
is said that Christopher Columbus carried biscotti on his voyages
because they were so sturdy, and their dryness prevented the problem
of spoilage. Since biscotti are not very sweet, they are a perfect
snack at any time of day, whether enjoyed with a cup of coffee or
dipped into a sweet dessert wine. |

About Ceramic Dinnerware
Not Safe for Microwave or Conventional Oven Use
Avoid
High Temperatures: Due to its characteristic thickness and
earthenware porosity, ceramic dinnerware may be damaged by exposure
to extremely hot temperatures.
Our dinnerware products are “Serving” pieces and they are NOT meant
to be used for cooking or re-heating.
Protect Against Chips and Cracks
Majolica is
low-fired earthenware and chips more easily than china dinnerware.
Careful hand wash is recommended.
Electric dish-washing may be used and, if available, set your
dishwasher to a "low-energy/cool-dry" cycle.
Always load your ceramic dinnerware far apart to avoid touching each
other during the high pressure dish-washing, since such impact can
easily chip the items.
Characteristics of Majolica and low fired Ceramics
With repeated use, Majolica has a tendency to "craze" (forming
minuscule lines in the glazing). This crazing is the nature of
Majolica, and has no significant effect on the ceramic item.
Because each Artistica’s piece is individually crafted, you may
notice slight variations in color and size and occasionally, paint
smudges, fingerprints and looseness of lids.
These variances should not be considered as imperfections, but as
evidence of fine, hand-crafted work.
All our
dinnerware collections are Dishwasher Safe as well as 100% Food
Safe, and are regularly inspected and tested for compliance with FDA
standards. |
